56k.gif (1064 bytes) Modem Issues

WinModem Users

If you have either a newer Gateway 2000 with a Telepath WinModem, a computer with a US Robotics Win Modem, or a LT Win Modem and are experiencing very slow connection speeds, or are getting disconnected often, then you may need a new driver.  This is usually the result of a compatibility issue with 3com and Lucent's older V.90 drivers and our V.90 drivers.   To solve this problem, all you have to do is download the newest drivers for whichever modem you own.

The drivers can be found at the following locations:

Gateway 2000 Telepath WinModem
3Com US Robotics X2/V.90 WinModem
LT WinModem
Rockwell (inc. HCF) and PCTEL

If after downloading and installing the new drivers the speed does not increase, or you still get disconnected, please feel free to contact USOL.com's technical support at either helpdesk@usol.com or 1.888.770.USOL(8765).

Please note that connection speeds are also influenced by the phone lines in your house and the surrounding area to the switch.
